Bryan @ Hendrickson: Wrap-Up

STORY BY: KEITH KANE

PFLUGERVILLE—The Bryan Vikings suffered a 42 to 16 setback at Pflugerville Hendrickson on a windy and wet Friday (9/20) night.

The Vikings started the game on defense, a decision that proved fruitful when Antwone Wallace picked off a Xavier Conley pass to set the Vikings up at the Hendrickson 26 yard line.  But, three plays and only one yard later Bryan had to setter for a 38 yard Corey Johnson field goal for a 3 to nothing lead.

That lead was short lived when the bigger and faster Hawks took the kick off and marched 75 yards down the field scoring on a 30 yard run by Oklahoma commit Samaje Perine to take a 7 to 3 lead that they would never relinquish.

Hendrickson would go on to put the game out of reach before halftime scoring on a 42 yard pass Conley to Jaylen Hardeman, a 1 yard run by Tazh Mosley, a 39 yard pass Conley to Craig Roberts-Shern, a 27 yard run by Perine, and a 12 yard pass Conley to Reggie Daniels all before halftime for a 42 to 3 lead.

Following the halftime break, the Vikings would force Hendrickson to punt and would cap a 65 yard drive with a 55 yard touchdown pass from B-J Ross to Sterling Whitley to make it a 42 to 10 game.

The Vikings would miss on a scoring opportunity in the fourth quarter when B-J Ross threw a pass into the hands of defensive end Tariq Taylor who would pick up a convoy and rumble 97 yards to the end zone only to have the play called back because of a holding penalty.  The Hawks would bleed time off the clock driving from the 12 yard line to the Bryan 1 where the Vikings would put up a defensive stand and take over at the 4 yard line on downs.

The Vikings would end the scoring with less than a minute left in the game capping a 96 yard drive with a 15 yard run by KeeKee Johnson.

After an extremely slow start, B-J Ross would finish the game with 109 yard passing and one touchdown.  KeeKee Johnson would end up with 95 yards on 17 rushes and a touchdown.

The Vikings are back home at Merrill Green Stadium Friday (9/27) for the start of the District 14-5A schedule against Conroe Oak Ridge.  The game will be broadcast on The Zone with Keith Kane and Zach Taylor beginning at 7 pm.
