-BRYAN- The Bryan Vikings were overpowered by the Waco Midway Panthers Friday night (8/31) 34 to 7.
Waco Midway used their speed and depth to wear down the Vikings in the second half to pull away to the big win.
The Vikings held the Panthers in check early in the game until Waco Midway hit a slant pass with 1:45 left in the 1st quarter to score from 59 yards away. Kramer Robertson hit Hunter Jarmon who pulled away from the Vikings defense for the score. Drew Owen kicked the extra point.
The Vikings responded with a big play of their own with 9:02 left in the 2nd quarter when Chris Johnson threw a deep pass to Cooper Powell for a touchdown. Jose Falcon added the extra point to tie the game.
But, then Waco Midway used their speed and depth to pull away scoring on their next four possessions while the Vikings became visibly fatigued.
Chris Johnson provided most of the offensive spark for Bryan completing 12 of 22 passes for 181 yards and a TD.
The Vikings will travel to Magnolia next week (9/7) to play the Bulldogs. The game will be broadcast on the Zone beginning at 7 pm.
