Bryan vs. Plugerville Hendrickson: Preview

STORY BY: KEITH KANE

If the Bryan Vikings are to pick up their second win of the season this Friday (9/21/12) night they will do so with a make-shift line up.

The Vikings have four starters sidelined due to injury following last week’s 42 to 16 loss at Belton.  Quarterback Chris Johnson, Offensive Left Guard Tyvan Hearne, Offensive Right Guard Zach Jones and Defensive Lineman and Linebacker Zac Slaydon will all miss this week’s game due to injury.  The Vikings are calling up some players from the J-V and changing their look on defense to compensate.  Wide Receiver V-J Banks will take over at Quarterback with Alex Harris splitting out to Banks’ Wide Receiver spot.

The Vikings will be hosting the Pflugerville Hendrickson Hawks at Merrill Green Stadium Friday night at 7:30 pm.  Hendrickson is a team that has bounced up and down from Class 5A to Class 4A and back to Class 5A this year.  The Hawks have a good pair of Running Backs and a Quarterback that can throw the deep ball, but had their roster decimated by graduation last year and are trying to rebuild.  As a result, the Hawks are giving up a lot of points this year, including during last week’s 36 to 21 win over Vandegrift.  Overall, Hendrickson has given up 106 points through three games this season.

The Hawks will line up in a spread formation on offense and will give a traditional four-man front look on defense.  Hendrickson has won one game and lost two so far this year.

Friday night’s game will be broadcast on KZNE The Zone beginning at 7 pm.
