Bryan at The Woodlands: Wrap-Up

THE WOODLANDS — A second quarter collapse doomed the Bryan Vikings Friday night as they were steamrollered by The Woodlands Highlanders on the road 54-14.

The Vikings gave up an early six points when The Woodlands Tyler Patrick returned a punt 59 yards for a touchdown.  But, the Vikings came right back and put together a 67 yard drive to tie the game on a 13 yard pass from Chris Johnson to Keyeon Johnson.

After the Highlanders scored twice more, but missed the extra points, the Vikings trailed 19-7. Bryanwas driving for what looked like a sure score when Bobby Johnson fumbled at The Woodlands 15 yard line.  That’s when the wheels came off.  Over the next 3:30, the Highlanders were scored three touchdowns on big plays, a 78 yard Patrick Carr run, a 55 yard Carr run, and a 25 yard scramble by quarterback Blaine Gillespie.

After The Woodlands got the second half kick-off, back-up running back Garrett Harvey would score two more touchdowns to salt the game away.

The Vikings would add one more score on an 82 yard pass from Chris Johnson to Josh Gibbs.

Chris Johnson would complete 13 of 29 passes for 260 yards and the two touchdowns.  The Highlanders Patrick Carr would rush 10 times for 187 yards and two TD’s.

The Vikings will try to lick there wound and regroup during a bye week this week.
