A&M Consolidated vs. Westlake: Preview

The second round of Division II 5-A football will feature a match-up between two friendly rivals as the Consolidated Tigers and Westlake Chaparrals meet for the second time this season.  Friday’s area round game will kick-off at 1:00pm Friday at Waco ISD Stadium.

Consolidated moved past the Klein Bearkats Friday at Woodforest Stadium with a 42-24 win Westlake was a 33-13 winner over Pflugerville Henricksen.  The Tigers are 9-2 on the season and co-champions of District 14-5A while Westlake brings a 7-4 record to the playoff game.

The Tigers and Chaparrals met earlier this season.  Consol had a slim 7-3 lead at halftime of the September 14th meeting at Tigerland but trailed going into the 4th quarter 17-14.  Consolidated rallied with three un-answered 4th quarter touchdowns to defeat Westlake 35-17.  The Tiger’s only non-conference loss was to the Midway Panthers and the only district loss was to Lufkin.  Both Midway and Lufkin are still alive in playoffs in Division II of 5-A.

The winner of the Consolidated-Westlake game takes on the winner of Dallas Jesuit and Longview.  Coverage of Consol Tiger Playoff Football begins at 12:30 Friday afternoon with comments from Coach David Raffield, kick-off is at 1:00 on 1620-WTAW.
