A&M Consolidated vs. Oak Ridge: Preview

STORY BY: MIKE WRIGHT

Coming off an overtime win over the College Park Cavaliers, the Tigers return home Friday to face Conroe Oak Ridge in a 14-5A match-up.  Consolidated lead late into the 4th Quarter of last Thursday’s game before College Park put together an impressive drive to tie the game with less than a minute remaining in regulation.  The Tigers scored first in overtime and held the Cavs out of the end zone to seal with win, 35-28, moving Consol’s record to 6-2 overall, 3-1 in district play.

Oak Ridge lost to the Conroe Tigers last Friday night 30-24, dropping their overall record to 1-6, 1-2 in district.  The War Eagles are led by Sr. QB Colby Kitterman, the leading rusher on the team and passer, completing 44-93.  Their offense is averaging only 240 yards per game, lowest in District 14-5A.  However, the Oak Ridge defense is third in district holding opponents to 365 yards per game, allowing only 850 yards passing, the best pass defense in the district. The War Eagles will face the districts best passing and running game in the Tigers, averaging almost 450 yards per game.

A Tiger win Friday night will wrap up a play-off position for Consolidated.

Kick time is 7:30 Friday night at Tigerland Stadium.
