A&M Consolidated at Lake Travis: Preview

The Consolidated Tigers are on the road for the 4th game of the 2012 season as they face 5-time Class 4-A State Champions, the Lake Travis Cavaliers.  The Cavs are 3-0 in their first year of 5-A play and ranked no. 2 in the state.  3rd-year Lake Travis Head Coach Hank Carter brings a 33-2 coaching record to the game, and having served three years previously as an assistant coach.  The Cavaliers are coming off a narrow win over Round Rock Westwood, 28-24.

The Tigers are now 2-1, following an impressive 35-17 win over state power Austin Westlake in a game that saw Consolidated score 21 unanswered points in the 4th Quarter.  Consol is lead by Sr. QB Jaylon Cheshire, who has thrown for 756 yards over three games.  Xavier Jones leads A&M Consolidated rushers with 40 carries and 308 yards.  His long run of the season came in the closing moments of Fridays game against Westlake when Jones busted through an opening over right tackle for a 94-yard touchdown run.  The Tiger offense leads 14-5A with an average of 401 yards per game.

This is the final non-conference game for the Tigers before opening district play against Lufkin.  Game night coverage begins with a pre-game interview featuring Head Coach David Raffield, following by the kick-off at 7:30 on 1620, WTAW.
