A&M Consolidated at Conroe: Wrap-Up

STORY BY: MIKE WRIGHT

CONROE — The Consolidated Tigers took at least a share of the 14-5A District Title last night by using an explosive second half to beat the Conroe Tigers 51-14.  A&M Consolidated wrapped up regular season play with an 8-2 record, 5-1 in district, an amazing turnaround from the 5-6 season a year ago.

A slow start offensively allowed Conroe to keep the ballgame close until the final two minutes of the first half when Consolidated reeled off 10-unanswered points to take a 23-7 lead into halftime.  Before the third quarter was barely underway, A&M Consolidated took a 44-7 lead with a quick-strike offense.

Dillon Moore hit on field goals of 42, 45, and 28 yards while Derrick Dick made a highlight film punt return for a score.  Daniel Hulse lead a receiving corps with Josch Motley and Kohl Anderson making big plays for quarterbacks Weston Garner and Gus Miller.

While there is much to sort out to determine who Consolidated will play in first-round playoffs, Klein’s win over Klein Collins improved chances greatly that Klein would be the Tigers’ next opponent.

Consolidated has week 10 as an open date before playoffs begin.
